With Strictly Come Dancing back on our screens, many of us will be wishing it was us out there, shimmying across the floor in sequins. Well, it could be…

OK, maybe not on TV with Anton Du Beke – just yet – but certainly in Fulham, where former Strictly Come Dancing Professional Champion and world Latin American champion Karen Hardy runs London’s only private members dance studio.

Karen Hardy Dance Studios, established 10 years ago, has brings a little of that on-screen glamour to the experience of learning to dance.

Located on the Thames waterfront on the Chelsea/Fulham borders, Karen Hardy Dance Studios has set the standard for first-class dance studios across the globe with its award-winning teachers.

Every new guest is invited to enjoy their favourite tipple in the stunning champagne bar and enjoy flexible programmes to suit even the tightest of schedules.

the member experience

We asked one of Karen Hardy Dance Studios’ members, Annabel Ford, a few questions to understand a bit more about what it’s like going on the ballroom dance journey…

Dance classes near me: Karen Hardy Dance Studios in Fulham helped member Annabel Ford rediscover her love of dancing

Annabel Ford rediscovered her love of dancing with KHDS

What inspired you to start dancing?
I always danced but I only specialised in ballet and contemporary.

Did you have any worries or concerns at the beginning?
I think my biggest worry was can I still dance and can any of my dance background relate to ballroom and Latin dancing. How many excuses can I make to myself why I am not dancing!

What made you choose Karen Hardy Dance Studios?
I was lucky enough to work near KHDS and I saw a 10th anniversary Christmas Gala advertised. I thought it would be lovely to watch different types of dance, especially all different ages, but it wasn’t until the friend I went with asked me why I stopped dancing that I realised I’d love to get back into it. Watching the live performance made me choose Karen Hardy.

What would you say to anyone thinking of starting dance lessons?
For me the biggest challenge was starting again, but Rome wasn’t built in a day! You don’t need to know how to dance before you start and if you wait until you’re ‘ready’, it’ll probably never happen. I made loads of excuses – I can’t dance anymore; I don’t have a partner etc etc – but your never know if you don’t try. You might just fall in love with it all over again, like I did!

What are your future dance goals?
I want to be able to take my medals and hopefully do a Pro-Am competition.

How has dancing impacted the rest of your life?
Going back to dance improved my self-esteem and confidence made me smile again.
