14 years after Disney’s groundbreaking animated series, ‘The Proud Family,’ went off the air, it’s being reported the series is being revived!

“I forgot to tell you that, The Proud Family is coming back. Proud Family’s coming back,” Davidson, who voiced Proud family patriarch Oscar, told Where Is the Buzz at the carpet premiere of 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. “It’s on one of Disney’s streaming [services]. Yeah, Proud Family’s coming back. They told me not to tell you. New episodes.”
The original incarnation of the series ran for over 50 episodes between 2001-2005 on the Disney Channel. Breaking barriers with its multiracial cast, the show tells the story of the teenage “Penny Proud” (voiced by Kyla Pratt) and the adventures (or often misadventures) of her friends “Dijonay” (Karen Malina White), “Sticky” (Orlando Brown), “Zoey” (Soleil Moon Frye) and “LaCienega” (Alisa Reyes), as well as family filled with dad “Oscar” (Tommy Davidson), grandmother “Henrietta” (Jo Marie Payton), and mom “Trudy” (Paula Jai Parker).
While Davidson did not confirm how many of the show’s original cast members are on board for the reboot, we couldn’t be any more excited for the show’s return upon the launch of Disney+ on November 12.
