New haunting number from Gilly Man Giro is a rare creature. Every element at play from the visual to the production to the lyric manages to vividly conjure imagery that pulls in the same direction to create a whole that sounds and genuinely feels like the topic matter. Featuring a moody instrumental that ebbs in and out like a calmly rising and falling sea, ‘Slack Tide’ plays host to Gilly phrasing solitary troubles via a string of oceanic metaphors.

Oliver Whitehouse deserves huge credit as well for creating the perfect melancholy, grey skied visual, grounding things on the British coast and providing an aesthetic that completely fits the sonic terrain.

So much love for this one.
