Gigi Hadid has hit out at body-shamers who accused her of not wanting to be curvy anymore.
The 23-year-old model spoke out about her weightloss by assuring trolls that they don’t need to tell her to eat because she has as many “burgers as she can”.
Speaking alongside fellow models, Ashley Graham and Kendall Jenner, on the Vogue ‘Forces of Fashion’ panel, Gigi revealed: “I loved my body when I was curvier and as I lost weight, people were really mean.”
She added: “Yeah I know I’m skinny – I’m looking in the mirror. But I’m trying to eat burgers and do squats and, like, I want an ass too. I get it, thank you.”
Ashley, who is famous for her body confident attitude, backed Gigi up.
She said: “Every time I work with you, there’s a taco or burger truck nearby.”
It’s not the first time she’s hit out of criticism of her body. She spoke out in February about her her diagnosis with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that used to give her symptoms like water retention, inflammation and metabolism issues.
Although she’s now being properly medicated, she explained in February that her body handles stress, as well as the travel for international modelling contracts, differently now that her health has improved from when she started out at 17.
Her body has changed significantly since she made her New York Fashion Week debut in February 2014 walking for Desigual.
In September 2015, she spoke out about her body image, admitting she didn’t look like other models at the time: “I represent a body image that wasn’t accepted in high-fashion before… Yes, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment.
“I’m fitting into my sample sizes. Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body.”
You tell them, Gigi.
